Organismo directivo del deporte de tiro con rifle y pistola. Se fundó en Gran Bretaña en 1860. La institución estadounidense, formada en 1871, cuenta con unos cuatro millones de socios. Tanto el grupo británico como el estadounidense patrocinan competencias regionales y nacionales de tiro y ofrecen programas para el uso seguro de las armas de fuego. La NRA de EE.UU. es una de las organizaciones políticas más influyentes del país y se ha opuesto enérgicamente a las propuestas legislativas dirigidas al control de las armas de fuego.
